TWIN FALLS – Traffic will be detoured around the intersection of Blue Lakes Boulevard, Addison Avenue and Shoshone Street – commonly known as North Five-Points – for three nights next week as crews replace rutted and deteriorated pavement along this portion of the U.S. 93 business route.

To expedite the project, the intersection will be closed and all traffic detoured from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday July 15. The project is expected to be complete by Wednesday July 18. All traffic will be detoured onto city streets during work hours. East- and northbound traffic will be detoured onto 11th Avenue to Elm Street before returning to Addison Avenue and Blue Lakes Boulevard via Heyburn Avenue. West- and southbound traffic will turn onto Heyburn Avenue to Harrison Street before returning to Addison Avenue. The asphalt replacement project will include removing approximately two inches of asphalt from the surface of the roadway and laying a mat of new asphalt throughout the intersection. The project extends west on Addison through the north-bound turn lane and on south-bound Blue Lakes north of the intersection. Workers will also install traffic-detection cameras to replace underground magnetic detection “loops” currently in place. There will be short-term daytime lane closures for this portion of work.
