UPDATE THURSDAY 8/9/2012 1:15PM Cave Canyon, Deer Hollow Stay Active Overnight; Eightmile Fire 90% Contained Down slope, down canyon winds kept the Cave Canyon and Deer Hollow fires active most of Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. The Deer Hollow Fire has moved up the ridge on the north side of Kelsaw Canyon, and has moved south into Rice Creek drainage. While the Cave Canyon Fire had steady growth to the north throughout the night, early morning winds caused a more significant push up Buckhorn Canyon around 5:30 a.m. Fire crews are providing structure protection for the Buckhorn Ranch. The fire has spread to BLM lands north of Cassia Division of the Sawtooth National Forest. Plans for today include moving resources from the southeast corner of the fire to reinforce resources on the north portion where the fire is most active. Managers have requested aerial retardant drops for this morning. Resources from the Eightmile Fire will join the fire crews on the Deer Hollow Fire today as well. A spike camp will be established in Malta to support firefighters on the Black Pine Division. The Minidoka Complex will assume management of the 3,000-acre Hot Well Fire burning eight miles east of Burley, Idaho, on BLM lands tomorrow after working with the current incident management structure today. Weather conditions are predicted to be much the same as Wednesday, with temperatures in the 90s and relative humidities in the low teens, and a slight chance of thunderstorms that could produce gusty winds and dry lightning.

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - The three largest fires on the Twin Falls BLM district, Flat Top 2, Hot Well, and Highway 30 continue to grow, but Wednesday the three smaller fires were able to be contained.  Resources remain committed to the fires and are working to slow their progress.  The following is the latest information from those fires, provided by the Bureau of Land Management.
