A spokesman says the U.S. Air Force is thinking about possibly putting a nuclear reactor on one of their bases.

In an article published by the 'Inside Defense' internet news service - Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne says that Mountain Home or Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico are being considered as possible locations.

However, U.S. Air Force Spokeswoman Vicki Stein says, they don't have any specific bases picked out. And it's not clear if the Air Force will even get involved in producing nuclear energy.

The Air Force says about a year ago, Idaho Senator Larry Craig and his counterpart Pete Domenici from New Mexico suggested that the military branch look into nuclear power.
