Jerome Man Arrested Following Brief Chase By Police
Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - Police in Jerome arrested a 28 year old resident after they say he led them on a brief chase through the city early this morning. Jerome Police Chief Dan Hall said an officer observed a vehicle traveling in excess of 65 miles per hour in a 35 Miles Per Hour Zone in the 500 block of South Lincoln just before 1 am today. Police began the chase after the driver of the Chevy Blazer failed to pull over when police activated their lights and siren. The driver attempted to turn west on I street when he lost control, striking a power pole. Police say the driver then attempted to run from the scene sending authorities on a brief foot pursuit. Chief Hall said they eventually arrested Estanislao Gonzalez-Flores, 28, of Jerome. Some of his more serious charges include, eluding officers, DUI, resisting and obstructing officers and failure to purchase a license. The vehicle’s impact sheared the pole off, causing power lines to arc which resulted in 342 customers in the area being without power for about 2 and a half hours, according to an official with Idaho Power. Eight of those customers were without power till about 7 am officials said.
