Shoshone To Be Honored As A Union Pacific Train Town
Shoshone, Idaho (KMVT-TV) – The roots of one of the oldest towns in Southern Idaho date back to the railroad coming through the area. Now the town of Shoshone will be mentioned in the railroad’s registry that will honor them for the community’s long time association with trains. The Lincoln county Chamber of Commerce applied to be included in the registry of the Union Pacific Train Town U.S.A. This morning, the chamber announced they were told by the Railroad company they were accepted. There will be a small ceremony held at the Union Pacific Depot, 304 North Rail Street, Shoshone, Idaho on Thursday, September 6th. This is in conjunction with the Union Pacific and Idaho Operation Lifesaver UPCARES Event. The ceremony will take place right before boarding the train at 2:00 pm. Union Pacific is asking all riders to be at the depot at least 15 minutes early. The ceremony will take place between 1:45 – 2:00 am, September 6th.
