Burley Woman Charged With Grand Theft
Burley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - A Burley woman was in a Cassia County courtroom Tuesday afternoon on charges of grand theft after being accused of embezzling around $12,000 from a local grocery store. Back in august, 23 year old Melanie Titus was accused of stealing more then $12,000 from Smiths food and drug in Burley. As former bookkeeper for the store, a Smiths manager noticed a few discrepancies in her paper work. After further investigation store officials found there to be around $12,000 missing. Tuesday, Titus was in court for her initial arraignment hearing in which she plead not guilty to the charges of grand theft. A pretrial hearing was then set for October 16th. And a jury trial was set for November 17th.
If convicted Titus could face up to 14 years in prison, a $5,000 fine or both. Comments ( |
