Garbage Rates Increase Approved By City Council
Kimberly, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Tuesday, the city of Kimberly unanimously passed a new ordinance that will require all of its citizens to pay a little more for their sanitation pick-up. In the current contract between the city of Kimberly and western waste services, only the hauling and pick up fees were covered by monthly billing. Over the past year the city's general fund has been picking up all of the landfill fees which came out to be around $32,000 a year. With Tuesday’s approval by the city council, starting on October 1, residents living in city limits will see a $2.20 increase per household. That $2 increase will now go to cover both the landfill and hauling fees and should free up more money from the cities general funds account.
