Twenty-one participants learned about gun rights and proper instruction of using a handgun at the handgun safety class held in Hagerman today.
Sergeant Dave Kiger instructed the course which included a range practice with live fire rounds.
Dave Kiger says, "Anybody can learn to use a gun. It's best to learn the fundamentals, the proper fundamentals, so you don't pick up bad habits. Bad habits are hard to break. We're dealing with that here."
One of requirements under Idaho state law to obtain a license, is completion of a safety or training course such as this one.
Kiger says, "These are to help people understand how their weapons work, how to manipulate them, in reference to their holster and the rest of the equipment they have."
Kiger wants to remind everyone that even if you have used a gun before, always practices the proper fundaments.
Kiger says, "If they keep practicing, keep practicing their fundamentals that they learn and learn good habits, they should be fine."
