Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) - Westbound traffic on I-84 between Jerome and Wendell was shut down Monday evening following a two vehicle accident that police are saying was weather related. Idaho State Police say the accident at about 4:43 pm happened near milepost 162 in Jerome County. Ilda M. Arizmendi, 33 of Wendell, ID, was traveling east on Interstate 84 in a 1998 Dodge Caravan. Arizmendi attempted to change lanes and lost control of the vehicle. The van went into the median and into oncoming traffic of westbound Interstate 84, colliding head-on with a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Greg S. Peasnall, 50 of Hagerman, ID. Both vehicles came to rest in the fast lane of westbound traffic.

Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Center.

All occupants of both vehicles involved were wearing their seat-belts and weather was a factor in the crash.

Both westbound lanes were blocked for approximately two and a half hours.
