Just over a year and a half ago, the body of 39 year old Tomas Nunez Lopez was found with gunshot wounds in his home north east of Rupert.

Lopez died from his injuries and his 16 year old son, Jeston Ray Lopez, was charged as an adult with first degree murder.

Lopez was set to go to trial at the end of November last year but judge Brent Moss of Rexburg was assigned to mediate the case out of court.

As part of a plea bargain agreement, this morning Lopez pled guilty to second degree murder. His sentencing is now set for 1 pm on July 10th.
