On May 8, 2008 at 1:53 p.m. Idaho State Police responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at 200 N and 100 E in Jerome County.

Francisco Oronica-Lopez, 19 of Jerome, was traveling southbound on 100 E in a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass when he failed to yield at the stop sign at 200 N. A semi tractor-trailer that was traveling westbound on 200 N struck Oronica-Lopez's vehicle. The driver of the semi truck, Kenneth Brown, 46 of Coos Bay, OR, was not hurt in the crash.

Oronica-Lopez was transported via life flight to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center and then later flown to St. Alphonsis Regional Medical Center in Boise and is in the ICU unit.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol is not a factor in this crash.

This crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police. Trooper D. Gibbs, CVS Cpl. Edwards, and Sgt. Oliver assisted Trooper Dahl at the scene.
