A Tough Week For Minico

By Joe Martin

05/09/08

It's been a tough week at Minco High School. Friday, Minidoka County Sheriff officials arrested a male student after reports that there was going to be a school shooting.

According to officials the call came in last night but law enforcement didn't hear about it until this morning.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time since he is a minor.

But officials say he is being accused with threatening violence on school grounds.

This threat happened on the same day 40 students were protesting across the street from the school.

The possibility of racial tensions at the school came to light earlier in the week after the Times News ran a story that said a student was accusing a teacher of throwing away a Mexican flag the student brought to school to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Officers say it's unclear if any of the incidents are related.
