It was the 16th annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive put on by the National Association Of Letter Carriers and the United Way.
Organizers say the event is the largest one day food drive across the nation and due to our recent economic situation organizers say it was a much needed event.
Nikki Nelson Says, "People are having a really hard time and we need to step up, even with the economy being the way it is people are still giving."
Last year they collected 17 thousand pounds of food and this year they hope to increase that number.
Organizers would also like to thank the South Central Community Action Partnership, Salvation Army, and Community Council of Idaho.
