Sunday night we broke two stories for you about auto crashes - one in Gooding County and the other in Jerome County.

The first accident we have in Gooding County was a double fatality.

According to a Gooding County press release, 42-year-old Nicolas Maldonado and his father, 74-year-old Jose Maldonado were killed last night in a two vehicle collision at 2200 East and Bob Barton Road.

Five others were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff officials say the vehicle driven by Nicolas Topaz ran a stop sign and was t-boned by a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Courtney Henson.

According to the press release, alcohol appears to have been a factor in the collision.

The other accident last night happened at around the same time in Jerome County.

Jerome County Undersheriff Jocylene Nunnally says that 25-year-old Marvin Perez Giron was injured, was air lifted to St. Luke’s Magic Valley and is in critical condition.

Officials say the accident happened at 990 South 3000 East near Hazelton, when witnesses say Giron was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed.

Sheriff officials say he tried to pass another vehicle at a double yellow line, when Giron rolled his car off the road before being thrown from it.

Nunnally says alcohol is a possible factor in the crash.
