Changes Happening On Baldy

It appears that bald mountain near Ketchum is getting slightly more bald. The Sun Valley Resort is logging a strip of trees for a future gondola lift.

Sun Valley Company Marketing Director, Jack Sibbach says, “We started flying the trees down from Baldy today, and this whole operation should take between sixteen to twenty hours of flying.

It's the first stage of a major project the company has planned for Baldy. Sibbach says, “The swath for the gondola is sixty–feet wide, and it's about six–thousand–three–hundred feet long from the bottom of River Run to Roundhouse.

Sibbach also says they plan on having gondola stations up by September, followed by a remodel of the roundhouse restaurant. The restaurant is currently just open for lunch during ski season, but that could change.

Sibbach says, “We'll be able to use Roundhouse then which will be remodeled year round, winter and summer, for lunch and for dinner, and it will be one spectacular experience for dinner.”

Sibbach says this helps take recreation on baldy in a new direction.
