Scientist at the Idaho National Laboratory, are looking for ways to cut back on our dependence from foreign sources. In order to do that, experts say we have to find alternatives.

INL workers say transportation isn't the only source we need to cut back on. We also need to find alternatives for energy such as electricity and gas.

When looking at alternative's experts say we have to make sure we meet the needs of our society, but with changing to another source scientist say we will face challenges along the way.

An INL source says, "The number one challenge for the next hundred years is energy. How we are going to produce enough of it and how we are going to secure access to it to power our economy."

One of the sources experts say will impact our area the most is water.

An INL source says, "It takes a lot of water to produce energy at any form and these new technologies are going to be water intensive and have an impact here locally in Twin Falls because we depend on water for agriculture."

One of the largest energy alternatives growing state wide is wind power with some farms here in the Magic Valley.
