BLM Closes Several Areas To Motorized Traffic
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Each year, the bureau of land management implements a seasonal road closure from now until mid-march in the south hills. The closures are designed to prevent resource damage and protect crucial mule deer winter range habitats. The seasonal closures will impact Dry Creek, Cherry Spring, Indiana Springs and North Cottonwood creek roads. The closure is for all vehicles except for those specifically authorized to access the closed areas. The area remains open to the public for non-motorized use. Meanwhile, roads that were impacted in the 2011 Blair fire near king hill, Idaho will be closed for the next several months.
BLM tells us that the roads will be closed until the first of June.
The BLM road, walker reservoir road and lower hog creek road will all be affected.
As a result of the fire, BLM is closing the roads to motorized vehicles in order to protect fire rehabilitation efforts.
The closures are also ensuring the long term habitats for wildlife populations in the area.
Plus, will help slow the spread of invasive weeds.
