Officals Keeping Eye On Big Wood River For Flooding

By Gina Jameson

Law enforcement in the Wood River Valley is keeping an eye out on the Big Wood River.

According to the Blaine County Disaster Services Director Chuck Turner, the river is rising at a steady pace.

Monday, water levels were reported at 4-point-6 feet high.

Turner says flood stages hit when the river is at 6 feet. Officials are not expecting the river to hit flood stages.

In the last several days the river has risen 5 to six inches.

Cooler temperatures in the next few days are expected to reduce the amount of run-off.

Turner says they are expecting the Big Wood River to peak out at about 5-and-a half-feet.
