2012 Big Game Hunter Outlook
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Idaho big game hunters may see a slight improvement in deer populations this year.
That's because last year we had a mild winter in comparison to the year before. In fact, white tail hunters did better last season than mule deer hunters for the first time since 1995. Big game populations are still not what they were five years ago. Last year’s elk harvest was the lowest since 1983, according to F & G historic data. The success rate for general elk hunts last year was sixteen percent, which is on the low side of average.
