Last night a well known anti-nuclear activist was arrested at a public meeting for a proposed nuclear power plant.
Dr. Peter Rickards of Idaho families for safest energies was handcuffed and escorted out by the Elmore County sheriff at the opera house in Glens Ferry.
Rickards was listening to a presentation being given by the Idaho energy complex c-e-o when he was arrested.
According to company official’s Rickards was asked to leave several times before the presentation started.
We spoke to Rickards and he says he was asked to leave when he arrived and was told not to hand information pamphlets out.
Rickards was booked at a county substation and charged with one count of battery and one count of trespassing.
According to the Elmore county sheriff Rickards pushed away an employee of the Idaho energy complex.
According to Rickards he never touched anyone and says he plans to file charges of false arrest.
He says it was a public meeting and he had every right to be there.
