Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Getting healthy typically takes center stage for many this time of year.

And, that's exactly what people were learning to do at Saturday's Wellness Celebration in Twin Falls.

Regenerate, rejuvenate, restore, revive and renew ... that's the theme of the 2013 Wellness Celebration.

"This is not about you're sick, or you've been hurt and we're going to fix it. This is about getting out in front of injury and illness," said Susan Nickell, Townsquare Media.

Local guest speakers gave free twenty minute seminars touching on a variety of topics.

Russell Singleton, of Tripp Family Medical, addressed skin health from a medical aspect targeting skin cancer.

"I wanted to talk about some of the warning signs and some of the ways people can keep a look out for those warning signs in their own body," said Singleton, a physician assistant.

In addition, Singleton discussed how the sun and other environmental factors can have negative effects on your skin.

"It's actually believed that most of the negative changes in the skin that we commonly associate with aging, it's the accumulated effect of a lifetime of sun damage," said Singleton.

Dozens of medical professionals were on hand to talk about ways to get healthy and stay healthy.

Trish Borresen is a clinical hypnotherapist who specializes in helping people conquer problems.

"If they can't swallow a pill then we help them relax the muscles in their throat. If they are afraid of tests, then we help them get over their fear of tests," said Borresen, Life Change Solutions Hypnosis.

Smoking, weightloss, and stress management are her areas of expertise.
"Hypnosis is a strong, strong tool to help people succeed,” said Borresen.

All of the vendors focused on how to be well and how to stay well.

Participants could enter to win all sorts of prizes including a Wii fit, day spa package, membership to Curves and much more.

The event was sponsored by Henderson Chiropractic, Metamorphosis Day Spa, Westport Insurance and Wright Physical Therapy.
