UPDATE: Semi Truck Hits Power Line On Highway 30
UPDATE: The road has been cleared of the wreckage and is not completely open in both directions.
UPDATE Noon: Traffic on highway 30 remains at a standstill this afternoon after gas truck collided with a semi trailer loaded with hay.
Officials tell Idaho’s first news the driver of the semi trailer was headed westbound when he looked up at the roadway and saw a car.
That’s when he slammed on the brakes, causing them to lock up and the vehicle to jackknife and the trailer to strike a power pole.
A semi truck carrying gas then struck the semi trailer.
No gas was leaked in the wreck.
Officials are rerouting traffic while crews work to clean up the scene.
No word on when cleanup will be complete.
Murtaugh, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Highway 30 near Murtaugh is completely blocked at this time due to a Semi-Truck accident. At about 9:24 am this morning a truck struck a power pole. The accident at 23085 Highway 30 near Murtaugh has authorities re-routing a long line of vehicles. The power pole is being replaced at this time by Idaho Power crews. The crash didn’t cause the power lines to break so, Idaho Power officials say only a couple of customers are being affected. At this time it’s not known what caused the truck driver to lose control but according to dispatch the truck jackknifed completely blocking the roadway. No injuries have been reported. Officials say that the driver was up and moving around. KMVT has a crew headed to the accident scene and will have more information when it becomes available.
