Remembering Minidoka

By S Casey

Hundreds of people gathered at the Minidoka internment historic site today for a pilgrimage of forgiveness. Jack Asakawa, Robert Tsuyoshi Ando, Yasou Pete Fujino...
These names are just a few of the Japanese–Americans interned at the Minidoka Internment Camp during WWII, who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
They were part of the memories relived today at the historical site as part of this year's Minidoka pilgrimage.
Scott Eckberg, National Park Service, says “The pilgrimage is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with memories of the past and to establish relationships with those of the World War Two generation.”
Hundreds of people from across the country gathered at what remains of the camp for forgiveness and education.
Frank Kitamoto, with Friends of Minidoka says “The story of the internment experience is an invisible story to most Americans.”
