A man is dead after trying to walk across the freeway late Saturday night.
Idaho State Police say just before midnight a 36 year old Norman Hicks of Reno Nevada walked out onto interstate I–84 near Heyburn in front of a mini–van.
The driver of the van swerved to the left but could not avoid hitting the man.
The pedestrian was taken to Cassia Regional Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Both the driver and the passengers of the van were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
The incident is still under investigation.
