ITD To Seal-Coat I-84 Near Wendell
Wendell, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) – Drivers should expect speed reductions and loose gravel along Interstate 84 west of Wendell for about a week during a seal coat beginning Monday June 17. The Idaho Transportation Department said that work is expected to be complete by June 22.
The seal-coat project will limit traffic to one lane in each direction from milepost 149 (about six miles west of Wendell) through the South Wendell/Idaho 46 Interchange (Exit 157). The contractor will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction, completing the inside lanes followed by the outside lanes in each direction. Crews will finish by seal coating the on- and off-ramps at both Wendell interchanges (Exits 155 and 157).
Seal coating entails spraying liquid asphalt on the highway and spreading a layer of crushed rock over it. The purpose is to protect pavement from water and weather damage and to provide a semi-rough surface for improved vehicle traction.
Drivers are urged to use caution in all areas of seal coating. Observing posted speed limits and increasing following distance between vehicles will reduce the risk of windshield damage caused by loose
