Power Rate Increase Upset Some Residents

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A one-year surcharge has Idaho Power customers upset. Warren Hinton said, “I don't think it should be increased. I think it should stay the same. With it going up higher because none of our senior citizens can afford to pay Idaho Power." Because of a 140 million dollar shortfall, the Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved the one year charge. Idaho power customers are currently paying around 12.5% more.
That amounts to about $12 more per month for the average customer.
Officials say this came as a result of a declining water supply and ongoing wind power expenses.
