Kimberly’s Red Cap Corner To Be Improved Starting Monday
Kimberly, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) – The intersection of U.S. 30 and Idaho 50, known locally as Red Cap Corner, will be improved and a traffic signal added starting Monday June 24.
The northbound, southbound and eastbound approaches to the intersection will be modified. Construction is expected to finish by the end of August.
Advance warning flashers will be installed on the high-speed eastbound and westbound approaches, and concrete islands on the north- and southbound approaches removed to make room for separate left-turn, through, and right-turn lanes.
The existing large sweeping free-right turn for motorists going east turning south, from Twin Falls to Kimberly also will be made smaller and reconfigured to provide a receiving lane for traffic separate from those used by other drivers.
Motorists can expect a 45-mph speed limit during construction, and minor delays. Crews will generally work five, 10-hour days each week, following a Monday-Friday schedule from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
