Boise, Idaho, ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Idaho Power Company is reporting that some Hispanic and Asian customers are receiving threatening phone calls. The utility said the caller is claiming to be an Idaho Power employee advising them to make a payment or telling them their service will be disconnected. The scammer demands customers make a payment within 24 to 48 hours and provide personal information over the phone for the purpose of identity theft. Idaho Power customer service manager Maggi Brilz said this is a scam and that the company encourages customers not to provide any information to the caller. The scam reportedly began last year.
