St. Edwards Church Installs Ten Commandment Monument

In recent years there's been a lot of debate about whether it's legal to display 'ten commandments' monuments in public places such as courthouses and parks. In most cases, court rulings have said it's 'Not'.

Thursday, the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Twin Falls installed a white marble 'Ten Commandments' monument near the entrance to the church on Sixth Avenue East.

It's nearly six feet tall - and weighs 850 pounds.

And according to officials with St. Edwards - it's the first such monument to be displayed at any catholic church in Idaho.

The pastor and parishioners at St. Edwards were inspired by a Nebraska based organization which promotes re-establishing respect and appreciation for the Ten Commandments.

A dedication ceremony for the monument will be held Sunday morning at 10:30 a-m.
