21st Annual Relay For life Is A True Mega-Event
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The 21st annual Twin Falls County Relay for Life is still 4 months, so official felt that mid January was a good time to kick things off.
And they did just that on Thursday night with a special ribbon cutting ceremony here in Twin Falls.
Starting last year and continuing again this year the Twin Falls County Relay for Life will be one of only 23 out of 500 relays across the western United States to be classified as a mega event.
To be eligible to call yourself a mega–event the entire fundraising effort must exceed a goal of multiple years over $200,000 raised.
Last year the Relay brought in well over $230,000 making it one of the biggest Relay for Life celebration in Western Half of the United States.
And relay officials couldn't be happier about the local Twin Falls community making Relay the biggest event of its kind for miles around.
“It’s amazing… it is so great to see that everyone in this area backs the relay for life, everyone supports it. You see it on marquis in businesses… you see it everywhere. You see the school out there, you see the young kids. The little kids and their wagons are out there. So it’s not just adults, this is for kids of all ages and people of all ages.” Said Kandie Bobreio, Team Development Chairman for Relay for Life
