TF City Council On Verge Of Approving Strategic Plan

By Andrew Logsdon

The Twin Falls Strategic Plan is like a compass for the city's next five years. After four months, the new one is on the verge of approval.

Twin Falls City Manager Tom Courtney says, “Our intention is to try to focus our time and resources on those things that are absolutely required, to assure that Twin Falls remains a good place to live over the long term.

The Twin Falls City Council is examining what could be the final draft tonight, which would set the tone for the next five years.

Courtney says, “Well, once the plan's approved by the council, it becomes the focus of, really everything the city does.”

The plan details thirteen areas important to city growth.

“There are four areas where we are going to focus our attention over the next five years. Those are water, waste water, road improvements and downtown.”

Courtney says by 2013, the city's water should be in full compliance with arsenic standards, with new water supplies.

Improvements will be complete for the waste water plant, road projects Washington Street North and Falls Avenue West will be finished, along with a revitalized downtown.

He says “The public investments that we will be making over the next five years in those areas we believe will further private investment.”
