Jerome's Planning and Zoning Meeting Gets Heated

By Andrew Logsdon

06/30/08

The Jerome County Commissioners held a public meeting with the county's planning and zoning commission to discuss amending parts of the county's zoning ordinances.

One of the amended chapters of the ordinance involved public hearings for confined animal feeding operation applications.

It would require notices being sent by mail to all properties within one mile of the proposed cafo.

Art Brown, Jerome County Planning and Zoning, says, “This is so that it will be according to your resolution it will meet your resolution that you passed a few years ago.”

The hearing wasn't without controversy however, as several community members spoke in opposition to the entire plan, calling it ill-planned and illegal.
