3 time alleged escapee Scott Holmes is behind bars this evening and was in 5th district court Monday.
After less than a week on the run for a third time Scott Holmes is back in custody, not in Gooding County but Twin Falls County this time.
The first time Holmes got away was in September of 2007. Then Holmes didn't get far the first time he escaped. That same day he was recaptured Holmes allegedly assaulted an officer in the receiving area of the police department and escaped a second time.
Holmes was serving time for burglary, forgery, and aggravated assault out of Twin Falls and Minidoka County.
Holmes was later picked up after a traffic stop in Phoenix, Arizona in late November 2007.
His third escape happened last Monday on the 23rd around 9:40pm.
Gooding County later announced on Tuesday that Holmes was on the loose.
According to Gooding officials, a 30 year old lock may have allowed Holmes to get away this time.
They say Holmes had no physical contact with a guard when he escaped. Guards discovered later that Holmes was not in his cell.
Holmes was then found in the South Hills, Saturday the 26th after Gooding and Twin Falls Sheriff Departments received tips from a man who said he saw a man similar to Holmes collecting wood in the South Hills.
The man was able to get a license number off the vehicle Holmes was driving. Twin Falls authorities were able to match the plates to a stolen vehicle out of Jerome County.
According to the Gooding County Sheriff, Holmes was found at a campsite with two teenage hitch hikers Holmes picked up in Burley.
Today, Holmes was in 5th district court facing a $500,000 warrant out of Gooding County on escape charges and grand theft by possession charges out of Twin Falls County. His bond in Twin Falls was set at $75,000.
Holmes will have a court hearing later this year.
