Fireworks Scare Your Pets

By Andrew Logsdon

While the Independence Day celebrations and fireworks can be a lot of fun for humans, it can sometimes be a traumatizing experience for pets.

The Humane Society of the US and the Twin Falls Animal Shelter wants to make sure people keep their pets safe from what goes outside.

A report suggests leaving all pets at home and inside, and always wearing some form of identification.

Debbie Blackwood of the shelter says that while humans understand what's going on, animals don't, and their instinctive tendency is to run away.

Blackwood says, “You can play a radio, or a fan, or something to help minimize or mute the sound.”

Blackwood says if your pet does disappear during the holiday, the best place to check is often your local animal shelter.
