Teen Dies in Car Wreck

Burley

By Briana Hoffman

One teenager is dead and another in critical condition following a car crash Saturday afternoon in Burley.

Neighbors say the intersection where this accident occurred has been a tragedy waiting to happen.

Burley resident Kevin Neiwert is frustrated about the unmarked intersection of 7th Street and Hansen Avenue.

He's says he's seen almost 20 accidents there, but this is the most tragic yet.

Sheriffs say late Saturday afternoon, three teenagers were riding in the back of a black Jeep pickup when the driver of a blue Dodge crashed into them.

17-year-old Mathew Hilling was thrown from the bed of the pickup and crushed underneath it.

The massive impact also threw 14-year-old James Seech against the wall of a house.

He was life-flighted to St. Alphonsus in Boise and is listed in highly critical condition.

The third teenager walked away with minor injuries.

Neiwert says he and his neighbors have had enough and something’s got to change.

He says one of his neighbors has had several cars end up in his front yard.
