Discussion Continues Over Bill To Allow Guns On Campuses
Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A bill allowing guns on campuses is causing controversy.
The bill is being pushed by state senator Curt McKenzie of Nampa.
But the state board of education voted on it Monday and they are unanimously against it.
The proposed law is on its way through a committee right now.
And would allow a person with an enhanced conceal permit to carry a gun on Idaho college campuses along with retired law enforcement officers.
Boise state president Bob Kustra says they have a plan that could get an armed officer anywhere on campus in as little as 30 seconds.
The board says that there is no data that proves that having guns on campus improves safety.
