Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Levi Power has been named the new principal for the Burley High School. He will begin the job this fall. The current principal, Dr. Carolyn Hondo, said she will retire in October 2013. She served the district for the past 30 years. She has been at the high school for seven years and was the principal for five.

A total of 24 people applied for the job according to the school district. They were from Alaska to Georgia including some from the Magic Valley. After a screening process that consisted of BHS teachers, staff, and parents, they narrowed the field of applicants to a final two for the interview process. Both the committee and the Board interviewed the candidates prior to the Board making its final selection.

Mr. Power, a native of Dietrich Idaho, has been the Vice Principal at BHS for 5 years. Prior to Burley he worked as the Business and Spanish Teacher in Oakley for 3 years. He was the athletic director and boys JV & Varsity basketball coach, as well. Mr. Power says he “ believes in the solid foundation that is already established at Burley High School, with its knowledgeable teaching staff, and will work hard to make it even better.” Additionally, he is grateful to “work alongside very supportive community members.” Levi resides in Oakley with his wife, Sherri, and their 4 children.
