At around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, Gooding County Dispatch received a call of a structure fire at 1937 Wood River Road. According to Gooding County Assistant Fire Chief Ron Reed, the fire has currently burned 500 acres.

A total of six agencies have assisted in the blaze so far – which include Gooding – Wendell – Bliss – Hagerman – And Shoshone, and the BLM conducted several aerial drops on the fire site.

Only one structure, a shed, has been destroyed in the fire.

Reed said that they hope to have the fire completely contained by Tuesday evening.

The investigation continues on how the blaze got started – but according to reed – it may have been a cigarette butt tossed on the ground.
