Early Morning Fire In Twin Falls

By S Casey

Andy Weir says, “I looked out into the hallway and I saw the flames glaring from the window."
This is how one tenant of a four plex located at 374 Madrona street explains what he saw when a fire broke out early this morning leaving neighbors scrambling to stay safe.
Weir says, "The two top neighbors had to jump from the balcony because the fire was from the front and people running were around trying to get out of there and looking for kids."
Fire crews say the blaze started at around four a.m. and when they arrived the building was fully engulfed in flames.
Tim Lauda says, "When we pulled in the fire was on the east side and it appeared to be primarily on the upper two apartments. Flames were shooting through the roof."
Luckily fire crews say no one was injured, but they say there were some scary moments.
Lauda says, "There was a lady with an 18 month old baby that one of the tenants rescued off the balcony but that happened prior to our arrival."
The American Red Cross tells us they will be assisting those who have been displaced because of the blaze by providing food, clothes and shelter.
They say this is their largest effort since the fire in Ketchum last year.
Captain Matt Hicks with the twin falls police department says they don't know how the fire may have started at this time.
But he says fire marshals are currently on scene with arson investigators to determine if the fire is suspicious or not and where it may have started.
Although fire crews don't have an estimate of the damage, they say the upper level is destroyed.
Lauda says, "It's a total loss for the upper floors."
