Painting Homes For Those In Need

By Brittany Cooper

Paint Magic is now in its 23rd year in the Magic Valley and 23 years equals 480 homes.
That’s quite a few especially when teams paint the homes in a matter of only a couple of weeks.
Each year the disabled - low-income and elderly apply for the Paint Magic program, and this year - they saw a rise in the interest.
Ken Robinette says, "We had a large influx of homeowners this year. We had approximately 60 applications that came in and unfortunately we couldn't get to all of them because we had 19 paint teams."
Since the team started on her house - homeowner Myrna Polihronakis has offered to help and give last minute instructions.
Polihronkis says, "This home I’ve lived in for almost 25 years and she's just a great lady, she was built in 1918 and i just love having her all decorated up."
This year 'Banner Bank' became one of the corporate sponsors for Paint Magic.
Not only that - they put a team together to paint this home.
Randy Andrus says, "It comes back to our community investment. We want to be involved in the community as much as we can and last year we wanted to do something like this but we were a little late so we did a home on our own."
For Myrna, her dreams came true when the paint team arrived at her door.
When the homes are finished - all the paint teams --homeowners and others will gather in the city park tomorrow for a free picnic provided by the Kiwanis club.
