I-84 Ramp Closures At East Bliss Interchange
Bliss, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) – Getting on and off Interstate 84 in Bliss will be different for some travelers beginning today Monday, June 2 with the closure of two ramps at the east Bliss/U.S. 26 interchange.
The ramps will be closed for the next two months for a construction project immediately west of the interchange.
The westbound entry ramp and the eastbound exit ramp at Exit 141 will be closed and traffic will be detoured onto the I-84 Business Loop to enter and exit the interstate at the west Bliss/Pioneer Road interchange at Exit 137. The ramp closure is being instituted for safety of the traveling public and to eliminate conflicts through the construction zone near Exit 141.
Work to resurface the two railroad overpass bridges, near the east Bliss interchange, started on May 27 with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone. The close proximity of the on- and off-ramps, and short area for merging traffic, led to a handful of vehicle crashes since the beginning of work.
ITD will review the traffic control plan and decide if the ramps can safely be reopened during the second phase of construction, expected to begin in late July.
