Mountain Home, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Mountain Home, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - An accident involving a Train and a Vehicle in Mountain Home ended with one person being arrested. The accident happened around 3:30 am Tuesday morning at the intersection of 12th Street and Main. Union Pacific told authorities that they had struck a 2000 Ford Excursion. When they arrived, Police could not locate the driver. The Search and Rescue and Elmore county Sheriff Deputies began a search. Mountain Home Police state that the driver left the roadway, rolled up on the embankment, and landed on the train tracks. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle prior to the collision.

The driver of the SUV was identified through a vehicle registration check and was eventually located. The driver is identified as 18 year old, Christian Danter. He was taken to St Luke's Elmore where he was treated and released with minor injuries. He was then charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving. It is unknown at this time if the driver was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. It is standard procedure when someone is involved in a crash of this nature for them to be taken to the hospital for a blood draw to determine if alcohol or drugs are a factor.

We are very thankful that the driver was able to get out of the vehicle and no one was seriously hurt. This incident could have easily turned into a tragedy. Many thanks for the assistance from the Elmore County Sheriff Department deputies and search and rescue unit.
