A Rupert man is behind bars after a hit and run Wednesday night.

According to Minidoka County Sheriff's reports Miguel Castillo was arrested in connection to a hit and run involving pedestrian and a small child in burley.

Cassia County Sheriff Jim Higens says a 26 year old mother and her 1 year old child were struck near the Cassia County Fairgrounds at around 7:45.

They were taken to the hospital and their condition is not known at this time.

Minidoka County deputies found Castillo at a home in Rupert thanks to eye witnesses.

Castillo has since been transferred over to Cassia County and charged with felony leaving the scene of an injury accident.
