New Minidoka District Ranger Announced
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Loren Poppert has been selected as the new District Ranger for the Minidoka Ranger District, located on the Sawtooth National Forest. He will report on August 12, 2014.
Poppert will replace Scott Nannenga who retired in May. Announcing Poppert’s selection is Jeff Rivera, Acting Forest Supervisor for the Sawtooth National Forest. “Loren's diverse experience and leadership skills, a strong background in recreation and a history of working with local communities are attributes that will assist him in being a successful District Ranger for the Minidoka Ranger District”.
Currently he is the Recreation/Lands/Heritage/Minerals Staff Officer for the Shoshone National Forest in Cody, Wyoming. In addition his Forest Service career has taken him to the Black Hills National Forest working in developed and dispersed recreation, and wilderness and special uses management. He has worked as the Recreation Staff Officer on the Medicine Wheel/Paintrock Ranger District where he gained experience working with the sacred Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark and two high use visitor Centers at Shell Falls and Burgess Junction.
Loren has two sons one of which will be a sophomore at the University of Wyoming in Chemical Engineering and one son who lives in Powell Wyoming with his mother and attends junior high school. Loren enjoys paddling, bird hunting, mountain biking, camping, and putting miles on his Harley. “Loren is looking forward to becoming a part of the Burley community and working with interested parties on management of the diverse resources on the Minidoka Ranger District, Sawtooth National Forest.”
