CSI No Smoking Ban

Tonight the College Of Southern Idaho's Board of Trustees will hear an update on a campus wide 'no smoking' policy, which is set to go into effect next Monday.

Last month, the trustees voted to accept the ban, which would apply to the Twin Falls campus as well as all off-campus centers.

The policy is a result of a survey of almost a thousand students - employees - and community members earlier this year.

CSI Dean of Students Graydon Stanley said that, "79 percent indicated that they were certain second hand smoke was a problem, and 79 percent also wanted the campus to become a smoke-free environment."

The ashtray containers outside most CSI buildings will most likely be removed sometime this week.

The ban doesn't apply to chewing tobacco since second hand smoke was the biggest concern affecting non-smokers' breathing space.
