The Big Wood Canal Company in Shoshone has announced that it will be turning off the irrigation water to its customers beginning Friday.

The Big Wood Canal Company manager says the water will be shut off at Magic Dam tomorrow. He says the water supply lasted longer thanks to extended runoff and they didn't run out of water as expected by August 10th.

General Manager Lynn Harmon says, "We've reached the point where we have taken the reservoir down about as low as we can possibly operate the system. And there's not enough water to continue, so we're going to shut off for the end of the season."

The Idaho Fish and Game is opening fishing on the Big Wood River below Magic Dam beginning at the Richfield Canal system diversion, effective tomorrow through December first.

Licensed anglers can catch fish on the Richfield Canal downstream to the Gooding County line as well as the Lincoln and Richfield Canal systems.
