Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) While seatbelt usage has increased statewide, the number of users in Twin Falls has dropped.

Twin Falls Police tell us they issued 757 citations last year, up from 438 in 2010.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Idaho boasted a 79–percent record for seat belt use in 2011. That's an increase of five percent since 2004.

Safe Kids Magic Valley is a big advocate for seat belt use because an accident can happen at any time.

"A good example is The Vow. Where they're parked and a truck hits them, and she ends up with a brain injury which is based on a true story. So had she been wearing a seat belt, she would have probably been kept contained in the car, but she didn't," adds Page Geske of Safe Kids Magic Valley.

According to police, a seat–belt violation carries a ten dollar fine for adults.

On average, 84% of the nation used seatbelts in 2011.
