Getting to know the new Twin Falls County Sheriff-Elect

Now that this year's election is finally over - many people are getting ready for new jobs, new co-workers or new bosses.

Twin Falls County Sheriff-Elect Tom Carter met with the county commissioners and other elected officials in Twin Falls County, to let them know he's ready to play on their team.

Twin Falls County Commission Chair Tom Mikesell says, "Everything we do is to the public. There's nothing that we do in private, and everything we do is public. And your office happens to touch every single department in one shape or another."

Carter says he knows of two sheriff's department staff members who will be retiring at the end of the year.

But Twin Falls Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Lori Nebeker says that current sheriff Wayne Tousley won't comment on those retirements until they're official.

Carter says, "We've got people in different positions in this department that just have knowledge that I can use, and I will be thrilled to use."

Carter met with the Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney - clerk - treasurer - assessor - and coroner in this post election get-together.

Carter will officially be sworn into office on January 12th.

Carter says, "I don't want to be anybody's enemy in Twin Falls County, I really don't. So if we can get this transition done, I have some great ideas for the department. I've already started talking to staff members, and I think it's a great place to work."
