Teen charged with murder bides for more time

By Benito Baeza

11/10/08

A teen charged in a Jerome shooting earlier this year wants a little more time till his trial.

16 year old David James Markus waved his right to a speedy trial earlier today.

Markus is charged with attempted murder, 2 counts of aggravated battery, and aggravated assault.

Law enforcement allege Markus shot at another man, grazing his face. Police say it may have been a gang related crime.

At his pretrial hearing Markus' attorney requested more time before trial based on a new discovery. Plus, Markus is being held in a Boise jail which his attorney says makes it difficult to meet with him on a regular basis.

His trial was set for the 19th but it may be pushed back to December or the beginning of next year.
