An arrest was made late Sunday evening following an extensive investigation that began with a vehicle pursuit Friday night.

On Friday, November 7 at 10:26 pm, a Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a vehicle pursuit of a stolen truck at 2650 East Poleline Road.

The 10 minute pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into a wrought-iron fence at 312 Washington Street South. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

The other occupants of the truck, Ruperto Cuevas, 20, of Twin Falls, and 2 minors were taken into custody.

The vehicle, stolen from Jerome, received approximately $8,000 worth of damage.

Following an intensive investigation, and with the assistance of Twin Falls City Police officers, the driver of the stolen vehicle was taken into custody Sunday night at 10:30 pm.

Jose Rey-Gonzales, 23, of Twin Falls, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, eluding a police officer, and child endangerment, all felonies.

Rey-Gutierrez, who had a firearm on him at the time of arrest, will also face additional charges of leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a concealed weapon. He is being held on a border-patrol hold and $15,000 bond.

The capture of this suspect has led to the clearing of multiple burglary and theft cases in Twin Falls and Jerome Counties.
